All-on-6 Implant Treatment

All-on-6 Implant Treatment

Stronger and more stable fixed prosthesis solution with 6 implants in a single jaw.

What is All-on-6 Implant Treatment?

All-on-6 implant treatment is a method of applying a fixed prosthesis using 6 implants in a single jaw. As an enhanced version of the All-on-4 technique, All-on-6 provides a stronger and more stable prosthesis solution by offering more support points, especially for patients with sufficient bone structure. At Dentaline Dental Clinic, we recommend All-on-6 treatment for patients with wide jaw structures or those wanting maximum support and long-term durability.

Difference Between All-on-6 and All-on-4

Both treatments offer fixed prosthesis solutions for edentulous jaws, but there are important differences that determine which method is best for each patient:

  • Number of implants: All-on-4 uses 4 implants while All-on-6 uses 6, providing 50% more anchor points
  • Support and stability: The additional 2 implants distribute chewing forces more evenly, reducing stress on each individual implant and increasing overall prosthesis stability
  • Bone requirement: All-on-6 is preferred when the patient has adequate bone volume, while All-on-4 is designed to work with limited bone through angled posterior implants
  • Force distribution: With 6 support points instead of 4, each implant bears approximately 33% less load during chewing, which can extend the longevity of the restoration
  • Long-span bridges: All-on-6 provides superior safety for longer prosthetic bridges, especially in patients with wider jaw arches
  • Bruxism patients: Patients who grind their teeth benefit significantly from the additional support that 6 implants provide

Who is All-on-6 Suitable For?

All-on-6 implant treatment is specifically designed for the following patient profiles:

  • Completely edentulous patients with sufficient bone volume in the jaw
  • Patients with wide or large jaw structures where 4 implants may not provide adequate coverage
  • Patients who desire maximum strength, stability, and peace of mind
  • Lower jaw restorations where the bone is generally denser and can accommodate more implants
  • Patients with bruxism (teeth grinding or clenching) habits who require additional support points to withstand the extra forces
  • Patients seeking the most durable and long-lasting full-arch restoration option available
  • Patients who have previously experienced failed All-on-4 restorations and need a more robust solution

Treatment Process in Detail

1. Comprehensive Digital Planning: The journey begins with a thorough clinical examination followed by a 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan. Our specialists analyze the jaw bone density, volume, height, and width at every potential implant site. Nerve canal positions and sinus boundaries are carefully mapped. Using advanced digital planning software, the ideal positions, angles, depths, and diameters for all 6 implants are determined with precision. A surgical guide (stent) is 3D-printed to ensure exact placement during surgery.

2. Surgical Procedure: On surgery day, under local anesthesia or conscious sedation (for patient comfort), any remaining problematic teeth are extracted. The surgical guide is positioned in the mouth, and six implants are strategically placed: typically 2-4 implants in the anterior (front) region positioned vertically, and 2 implants in the posterior (back) region placed at calculated angles to maximize bone engagement. The entire procedure takes approximately 2-3 hours and is performed in a fully sterile operating environment.

3. Immediate Loading — Same-Day Teeth: One of the most significant advantages of All-on-6 is the ability to place a temporary fixed prosthesis on the same day as surgery. This means you never have to spend a single day without teeth. The temporary prosthesis is both functional and aesthetic, allowing you to smile, speak, and eat soft foods immediately.

4. Healing and Osseointegration (3-6 Months): During this critical phase, the titanium implants gradually fuse with the surrounding jaw bone through a biological process called osseointegration. During this time, you live normally with your temporary prosthesis while following a soft diet to protect the healing implants. Regular check-ups monitor the integration progress.

5. Permanent Prosthesis Fabrication: Once osseointegration is confirmed through clinical and radiographic examination, digital impressions are taken using a 3D intraoral scanner. Your permanent zirconium prosthesis, containing 12-14 meticulously crafted artificial teeth, is designed using CAD software and manufactured with CAM technology. The final prosthesis provides a natural, beautiful appearance and exceptional chewing strength.

Key Advantages of All-on-6

  • Superior stability: 6 implants create a significantly more stable foundation compared to 4, reducing the risk of prosthesis loosening or movement
  • Enhanced durability: Better force distribution extends both implant and prosthesis lifespan well beyond 20 years
  • Same-day teeth: Walk out of the clinic with a full set of functional, aesthetic teeth on surgery day
  • Natural function: Fixed prosthesis eliminates all the inconveniences of removable dentures — no adhesives, no slipping, no removing at night
  • Preserved bone: Implants stimulate the jaw bone, preventing the bone resorption that occurs with traditional dentures
  • Confidence restored: Eat your favorite foods, smile freely, and speak clearly without worry

Materials and Technology

At Dentaline, we use premium implant brands (Megagen, Straumann, or equivalent) for All-on-6 treatment. The permanent prosthesis is crafted from full monolithic zirconium or zirconium-framework composite, selected based on patient needs. All materials are CE certified and meet international quality standards. Our digital workflow — from CBCT planning to CAD/CAM prosthesis fabrication — ensures precision at every step.

Long-term Care

All-on-6 prostheses require care similar to natural teeth. Daily oral hygiene includes brushing twice a day with a soft-bristled brush, using superfloss or a water flosser to clean under the prosthesis, and rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash. Professional cleaning and check-ups every 6 months at our clinic ensure long-term health and longevity. With proper care, your All-on-6 restoration can serve you beautifully for 20 years or more.
